<p><strong>Attention:</strong> Parents, High School Students, Middle School student and junior college students.</p>
<p>TANC Youth Development committee would like to invite all youths age 14-22 to Shadow Day at UC Berkeley.</p>
<p><strong>What is Shadow Day: </strong></p>
<p>Shadow Day is a one day program for students to introduce them to college life. Program includes fun workshops, campus tour, explore school facilities such as libraries, gym, pool, football stadium etc. Students also get to tour dorms and apartments of college students. Other workshops cover a variety of topics, including: academics, community-building, inspiration, and political awareness.</p>
<p>In addition, UC Berkeley students build empowering relationships with the Shadow Day mentees by mentoring, bonding with, and providing a safe space for them to ask questions about and become empowered to pursue education and higher education in general.</p>
<p>The event is on a school day, so we would like to request the parents to provide letter to excuse students from school, or we can provide a letter to confirm their participation.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">TANC Youth Development Committee would like to invite all the youths to a special talk by Dr. Lobsang Rabgey la. She will be speaking about her work in Tibet and her life experiences growing up to give our youths a sense of motivation and inspiration. Dr. Lobsang is the co-founder of Machik Foundation &#8211; a non-profit organization in Washington DC <em>&#8220;working to develop new opportunities for  education, capacity-building and innovation in the Tibetan plateau&#8221;.</em></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The event is organized by TANC Youth Development members and co-sponsored by <strong>Bay Area Global Tibetan Professional’s Network </strong>(GTPN). <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Everyone is highly encouraged to attend this event.</span></p>
<p>This is a great opportunity to meet Dr. Lobsang la, and ask her questions about higher education, Tibet, and anything related to Anthropology.</p>

<p><strong>Short Bio of Dr. Lobsang Rabgey:</strong></p>
<p>Co-founder and Executive Director. Losang holds a PhD in gender studies and anthropology from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies where she was a Canadian Commonwealth Scholar. In 2006, Losang was recognized as an Emerging Explorer by the National Geographic for her innovative work in bridging cultural divides. In addition to her creative development of Machik work, Losang also serves on the board of directors of the Tibetan Himalayan Digital Library and was a founding member of Mechak, the first online gallery of contemporary Tibetan art. Her current research interests include social entrepreneurship and rural community development in Tibet. Losang was selected by the Asia Society as a Young Leader in 2007. Born in India and raised in Canada, Losang first returned to Tibet with her family in 1987.</p>
