Program Committee
Overview
The Tibetan Association of Northern California’s (TANC) Program Committee consists of community leaders, TANC Board Members, and members of the Tibetan Community Center of Northern California (TCCNC) Executive Committee. This body has the following responsibilities:
- Advise TANC and TCCNC in planning, developing and evaluating programs that meet the needs of the community.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate a curriculum for The Tibetan School of Northern California.
- Assist with identifying and contacting members to serve on the Betsy Gordon Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.
- Review and provide input into program proposals submitted by TANC/TCCNC to funders as and when requested.
- Ensure that program grants are spent as per the grant proposals, and that the progress of the various activities covered by the grant are monitored and documented.
- Assist with preparing and reviewing program grant reports.
- Approve program expenses that are under $500, and where there is funding available to cover the expense.
- Participate in quarterly meetings with the TANC Board and TCCNC Executive Committee.
- The Program Committee will submit the budget proposal to the TANC Board at the beginning of each fiscal year starting September 1st for approval.
Composition and Term:
- The Committee will have a minimum of six members including at least one TANC Board member.
- New members are nominated by the TANC Board.
- Each member is expected to serve for a period of two years with a limit of two consecutive terms. However, there is no limit to the number of times a person can serve on the committee.
- The committee meets at least once a month.
- Committee members will elect amongst its members a Chair(s) person.
- Members are not paid for their services.
Oversight:
- Committee members report to the TANC Board. All committee deliberations on issues that impact TANC finances and overall direction/scope of community programs/services are forwarded as recommendations to the TANC Board, and the latter makes all key decisions.
