The summer festival in the village of Jara, about thirty minutes outside of Lhasa, included this local performance of Tibetan opera. Like every public event we saw, the stage was shadowed with portraits of the Chinese leadership, in this case, Mao, Deng Xiao Peng and Jiang Zemin, and usually a red PRC flag.
