| Man from Kham near the Potala Palace The rugged, handsome people of Kham in eastern Tibet are famously direct and plain-spoken, in contrast to the more formal, oblique manner of the people of Lhasa. The Khampa men also commonly wear their hair long, twisted with a red or black tassel around their heads. We first met this man here, on the prayer circuit around the Potala Palace, but found him again days later at the summer festival in the small village of Jara, in the district of Dolung, watching the horse-riding exhibitions. He remembered us, too. |
