| Official in Front of Jokhang Temple
We were exceptionally careful on this trip (for good reasons) not to give even the appearance of political activity, and did not therefore take photos of any officials. In this shot, the guy in uniform happened to be there while I was setting up a photo. On reflection, it's amazing that there aren't officials in every shot we took around the Barkhor, because you can't walk 100 feet without passing at least one. This was in stark contrast to China, where in Chengdu, for example, we went for hours without seeing a single police person. |
