| Barkhor Bus Stop
The bustling center of the Tibetan heart of Lhasa, the Barkhor is the main prayer circuit, circling the Jokhang temple in lanes that are full to bursting with vendors, prostrators, pilgrims, nomads, nuns, and the policemen making sure none of them rise up against the Chinese government. Business is brisk at the bus stop just off the main Barkhor Square, where fruit vendors, bicycle rickshaws, Landcruisers on the way in and out of town, and pilgrim buses compete with pedestrians for street space. |
