To wander through Ganden Monastery is to pick your way through the ruins to the halls and temples that have been restored or are in the process of being restored. The destruction is so severe that I found myself wondering how they tore it all down. What did they use to knock down the walls like this, without bombs and major machinery? It must have taken great motivation and effort to destroy the stone walls that had stood for many centuries.
